The multi-day mountain bike tour through the Kitzbühel Alps is divided into 3 daily stages. This variant covers a lot of altitude and kilometers. In addition to fantastic landscapes and panoramic peaks, the bike pro will also encounter some very technical descents with tricky trails. We recommend hardtail or fully mountain bikes with good/medium tread tires. ATTENTION: E-mountain bikes are not permitted on the 3rd KAT Bike Sport stage.

Hopfgarten im Brixental - Brixen im Thale

From Hopfgarten, follow MTB route 269 in the direction of the Hopfgarten middle station. Along the gravel path you now reach the beautifully situated alpine slopes with a view of the Hohe Salve summit house. You can already see the Gasthof Rigi from afar. But just before you reach this milestone, it is worth making a detour to the Kleine Salve with its idyllic reservoir directly below the summit. You soon reach the Salvensee, another highlight of the tour. From here, you set off on a rapid descent towards Westendorf. Brixen im Thale - Oberndorf in Tirol

The second stage of your bikepacking trip through the Kitzbühel Alps takes you from Brixen im Thale to Oberndorf in Tyrol. With the Wiegalmtrail and the Hahnenkamm or Fleckalmtrail, two real trail challenges await you! If you dont really dare to ride the single trails, you can also ride the forest roads and save yourself the trails.

Oberndorf in Tirol - Fieberbrunn

Without any major detours, you head towards the legendary Kitzbüheler Horn. The road winds its way up steeply and on many hairpin bends. You will be rewarded with an incredible view of the north side of the Kitzbüheler Horn. Harschbichl Trail or forest road - a red trail with a beautiful wooden gate for an extra dose of fun! 145 bends with Northshore elements and a few bridges, a lot in the forest but also with great views await you! There are a few roots and also a few steep passages, but an experienced mountain biker will get down here well and with a big grin! If you prefer to skip the tr... weiterlesenail - no problem, you can take the forest road to the right instead. You arrive at the bottom in St. Johann in Tirol. The village offers many places to stop for refreshments. You deserve at least one ice cream now! You then follow the cycle path out of St. Johann in Tirol heading north. Shortly before Kirchdorf in Tirol, turn east. A steep asphalt road winds its way out of the valley and you quickly gain altitude. You soon reach the highest point and can take a short break on the downhill section.The time has come to start your Hike-A-Bike at an unmanaged mountain pasture. An alpine meadow with a single trail in it gives you a gentle introduction to this challenging section. It soon gets a little rougher, with stones and roots in the high forest making your path a little more difficult. Now you come to the first sections where you have to carry your bike. Surefootedness is definitely a must here. After a short downhill section, you reach the Winterstelleralm. This is the first farmed mountain pasture since we left St. Johann.

Arrival by car

From the München Süd interchange, follow the A8 in the direction of Salzburg for approx. 56 km. At the Inntal interchange, change from the A8 to the A93 in the direction of Innsbruck/Kufstein. After approx. 25 km you reach the Austrian border - here the A93 changes to the A12. Leave the A12 at the Wörgl Ost junction and drive in the direction of Brixental Valley and follow the signs to Hopfgarten.

Other Notes

To ensure a stress-free start to the trip, we recommend arriving at the starting point by early evening in most cases. Some tours start as early as midday, in which case we recommend arriving the day before and will be happy to book an extra night for you at the same time. The individual return journey takes place on the last day of the tour. The distances are approximate and may differ from the actual distances covered. This tour is not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

Tour Character

The daily stages have a length of approx. 25 to 53 km, during which you cover up to approx. 1900 hm up and down. This tour is therefore classified as difficulty level 4 (difficult). Most of the route is on gravel, forest and asphalt roads. The last two stages are on single trails.

Departure

From Fieberbrunn take the train to Hopfgarten or Wörgl and from there take a cab to your accommodation. Please be sure to tell the cab company how many people or bicycles you have with you. The costs for the regional train are included in the guest card, any cab costs are not included!

Parking

In Mariastein there is a public parking lot right next to the Mariastein church. In Angerberg you can park your car directly at your accommodation for the duration of your trip. In Hopfgarten you can park your car in the free public parking lot P3 Wasserfeld or alternatively in the parking garage of the Hohe Salve cable cars for a fee (approx. 10 EUR per day).

If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the trip up to four weeks before the arrival date. We recommend organizing the arrival and departure only after this deadline has passed.
