The river Ammer-Amper Cycling Trail

Enjoy a strall in the small town known for the facade paintings of the houses.

The first stage takes you past the stage of the Passion Play and back to Ettal, where the Ammer springs in the Ettaler Weidmoos nature reserve form the official start of the Ammer-Amper cycle path. From there, follow the cycle path along the banks of the Ammer River to Peiting.

Your first destination today is Peißenberg. On the trail of the mining tradition in the Pfaffenwinkel, the mining museum worth seeing awaits you in the heart of the market town. After another 15 kilometres you will reach Weilheim. Take a short break and enjoy a cup of coffee in the beautiful pedestrian zone. Your destination for the day is Dießen am Ammersee, overnight stay in Dießen, or Andechs.

You first cycle along the beautiful lake Ammersee, the third largest lake in Bavaria. Perhaps you will freshen up briefly before continuing on to Fürstenfeldbruck. The idyllic town on the Amper River entices you to browse extensively in the many small shops and restaurants.

Today we first are heading first to Dachau. Widely known as the site of the concentration camp memorial, Dachau also offers a very beautiful old town with the Wittelsbach summer residence Dachau Castle. After about 15 kilometres you will reach the small community of Haimhausen, where your next hotel is located.

Early in the morning you start the last stage of the Ammer-Amper Cycle Path. 53 kilometres separate you from your destination today, Moosburg an der Isar. At the intersection with the famous Isar Cycle Path, the old town of Moosburg rises up with the two landmarks of the town, the church towers of St. Kastulus and St. Johannes. Romantic alleys and historic buildings characterise the townscape.
